April 5 is Women's Confidence Day. It is early to know what their plans will be, but she would like to work with our group. I mentioned that April is Child Abuse Awareness month and Sexual Assault Awareness month as well.

75 DV reported in 2007. Four were children, 2 were same sex, many were estranged husbands and boyfriends and some were women perpetrators. It is broken down by county on NCADV website.

COMMITTEE UPDATES
Steve needs someone to take over the silent/memorial walks. We need to have our protocol in place. We need volunteers, and a goal as to when to have it in place. I mentioned that it is feasible to have a draft ready in one month, with the final ready in 2-3 months, just with my experience with the maps. We have worked on it in the past and I'll be glad to forward those minutes to whomever decides to work on the walks.

Steve has broken down the two handouts that he and Julie gave out at the last meeting into a two page handout. It has goals and objectives, along with the number of people they feel it needs to perform each objective. They need volunteers to step up to the plate, TODAY, to sign up to these objectives.

Everyone seemed responsive to the various areas. It is listed below - 2008 WORK PLAN. I have listed peoples names who responded they wished to work on the objectives. IF I HAVE ANYONE IN THE WRONG AREA, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

ADVOCACY
Internal - Protocol for memorial Walks (JENNY, JULIE) Have a draft done in February Have a protocol done in March External - Legislation (KATHLEEN, ANGELICA) Track incoming bills Develop contacts with representatives Advocate for or against as needed

Goal: Discuss emerging issues. Objective: Set aside time in the agenda each month for emerging/extant hot issues. The amount of time can be determined by the issues.

Goal: Enhance knowledge of conferences. Objective: Use email list to promote and announce new conference information to eliminate clutter during meetings. Include this information on the website as well and share with external communications group.

Goal: Identify and invite stakeholders not represented in the coalition. Objective: Invite additional community agencies to become a part of our discussion at one ABCPFV meeting a quarter, this meeting will coincide with our Quarterly Speaker meeting. (AMY-DSS, CARLYLE, JOHN)

Logo Contest - As we have a new identity, we may think of opening up a contest to the community to create a logo for our coalition to be printed on letterhead or T-shirts in the future. It can be marketing for the organization. If anyone has contacts with graphic design or marketing, let Steve or Julie know.

Sincerely
Anne Parker http://www.abcpfv.org/
